Apple Butter

apple butter

When you live in the Hudson Valley and fall is on the horizon you can't help but dream in apples. From snacking on them raw to apple pie there are endless ways to consume them. This fall make one of my favorites, apple butter. It's the perfect seasonal treat and it makes a great gift too. It's thicker than apple sauce and the flavors are like a condensed apple pie in a jar. Made fragrant with cinnamon and nutmeg it's delicious on a slice of warm buttered toast or try it my favorite way right off the spoon.

What makes this even better is that it's made in an instapot. Just add in all the ingredients, stir, and go! In minutes your home is filled with the most amazing autumn feels and scents!

The Ingredients:

4lbs or 8 to 10 apples, cored & chopped Use any variety you like or a mix of different kinds 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar 4 tsp cinnamon (make them heaping) 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp vanilla extract The Directions: Add all the ingredients to the Instant Pot. Stir to coat the apples. Secure lid. Close the pressure valve. Select "MANUAL" & cook on high pressure for 8 min. When time is up, use natural release to depressurize. Turn pot off. Using a potato masher or immersion blender blend the apples until smooth. Cool slightly. Transfer to half pint glass jars. Seal jars. Makes 6 to 7- 4oz jars. Store up to 3 weeks in fridge and up to 3 months in freezer. Enjoy! xx
