Chive Talk! These easy to grow onion-like perennials with their long thin hollow green leaves that grow upward are topped with delicate purple puff ball flowers have become one of my favorite springtime sights. No herb garden should be without them. The best part is they don't demand much care other than an occasional trimming and dividing. The flowers are an added bonus. I love seeing these blossoms not only because they’re so vibrant to look at, but because they taste amazing. As someone who loves savory flavors but doesn't want a strong onion flavor to take over a recipe, chive blossoms are the perfect seasoning to sprinkle in so many dishes. To enjoy that flavor once summer is long gone, making chive blossom salt is the perfect solution. All you do is mix the blossoms with sea salt, spread them out to dry, jar them up, and viola! I love the simplicity of flavor this salt gives to dishes. Plus, it looks beautiful as well. After all, we do eat with or eyes along with our sense of taste.

Ingredients:
1 Cup Sea Salt
1/3 Cup Chive Blossoms, gently pull the flowers apart trying to keep intact

Instructions:
On a large plate, mix together the sea salt and chive blossoms until well combined.
Allow the mixture to dry out until the blossoms feel like tissue paper to the touch, about 5 to 7 days.
Stir them each day to makes sure it dries out evenly.
Once dried, store the salt in a sealed jar.
Enjoy on all your favorite savory dishes.
