Easy One Pan Chicken Parmesan

This One Pan Chicken Parmesan is perfect for when you want a comforting and impressive meal without much effort. It looks like it took hours to prepare, but it only takes minutes. Tender chicken breasts or thighs, flavorful marinara sauce, fresh mozzarella, creamy ricotta, and nutty parmesan come together to create a dish that's both cozy and satisfying. This recipe is simpler to make and lighter than traditional chicken parmesan, yet it retains all the flavors you love.

Golden and bubbly Sheet Pan Chicken Parmesan, topped with melted cheese and garnished with fresh basil, ready to enjoy in 30 minutes.

The Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts, thinly sliced (chicken thighs can be used)

  • 24 oz. marinara sauce

  • sea salt to taste

  • chili pepper to taste

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 3/4 cup ricotta cheese

  • 8 oz. fresh mozzarella, sliced into the amount needed for the number of pieces of chicken

  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated

  • 8 basil leaves, torn

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

The Plan:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • On a large rimmed baking sheet, pour the marinara sauce and spread it out into an even layer.

  • Fold in the side of each chicken breast and place seem side down on top of the sauce. Leave a little room between each piece of chicken. If using thighs, do not fold them.

  • Season the chicken with salt, chili pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  • Top each piece of chicken with one slice of the fresh mozzarella.

  • Distribute the ricotta cheese around the chicken and on to the sauce.

  • Sprinkle the basil on to the sheet pan. I like to add it around the chicken.

  • Sprinkle the chicken with the parmesan cheese.

  • Drizzle on the olive oil.

  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165°F and the cheese is slightly golden. If desired, brown the cheese under the broiler for a few minutes.

Serve with your favorite pasta, vegetables, crusty Italian bread, or salad.

Enjoy! xx
